"Stop by Tompkins Square Park between 1:30pm - 4pm and get some FREE vegan sweets (cupcakes, tons of cookies and lots of cakes!) to celebrate Lauren launching the E.C.C. Sweets website!" there might be a cake eating contest, just saying. Overslept and forgot about this.

my favorite spots here in Greenpoint are of course Papacito's numero uno. i'm still waiting til i get something there i don't like. The Italian Tofurky sandwich at Forest Natural on Norman is one of my favorites. And just about everything at Brooklyn standard deserves high fives. I really like Boneshakers on Kingsland too but it's just way too pricey.

So, maybe you guys can help me out. I absolutely love and am addicted to tofu scramble but can never seem to get it right when I make it on my own.
In the interim while I figure out how to make it properly or get it to taste decently, what are some places in the city that make awesome tofu scramble?
I LOVED the scramble at Kate's Joint but that's all I've had so far.
List more places I can get delicious tofu scramble.

Went to Soy and Sake the other day. HOLY FUCK. So, so good. Definitely part of the Red Bamboo/VP2 family, don't know if anyone noticed the similar/same menu items minus all the sushi/Japanese options.
But yeah, so good.

It never looks yellow enough and its always really shitty on my stomach, which definitely isn't just tofu scramble. I eat that shit all the time and its fine, but every time I make it using the PPK recipe, it doesn't taste that good and always gives me an upset stomach. What am I doing wrong you think?

What am I doing wrong you think? if you are trying to get it to look and taste like eggs youre going to be working hard for nothing. ive had it in so many colors and flavors and it has never really tasted like eggs. it shouldnt really be an egg "replacer". honestly, you should just stick with flavors you like. i love Spanish persony food so i put salsa and hot sauce in mine. I always add lots of yeast too. adding vegan sausage or bacon or something should help with the flavors. and my stomach always gets crazy when i eat too much soy of anything, especially fried tofu. the best thing to do is to not eat the whole block of tofu. i usually share it with someone or only make half the block.

See, that's the thing. I'm not trying to get it to taste like eggs. I hate eggs and always have which is partly why I love tofu scramble so much, because it doesn't taste like it. Mostly I mean I can never get it to be flavored the same way I've tasted it in restaurants or even in the same way my friends have made it. I always put salsa on mine too which makes it taste amazing, but I've had it before where I just eat it straight up. I think maybe I'm not adding enough cumin or tumeric, mostly because its not nearly the same dark yellow color when I make it. Last time I made it using that recipe, I didn't put in any nutritional yeast because I'm not big on how that stuff tastes, thinking that might be the problem, and I'm still finding it not to be that tasty. I'm definitely not doing something correctly because it doesn't taste as good or flavorful as when I've had it in restaurants or had other friends make it. My friend I'm staying with this weekend is having a brunch and probably making it, I believe she uses the same recipe. Maybe I'll look and see what she does, maybe she does something different. Last time she made it, it was amazing. or maybe I should just go to Kate's and ask what they do? but yeah, definitely not trying to make it be an egg replacer. Was actually really weary of the stuff at first because I just hate the taste and smell of eggs, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it didn't taste or smell like it. I just naturally assumed it to be a substitute like a lot of other things. As for other places in the city, I didn't even know Red Bamboo did it. I think Curly's has it, and some little cafe/coffee shop in Park Slope I was at the other day had it on their vegan/vegetarian breakfast menu. I'd be curious to check those places out.

I'd be curious to check those places out. sometimes it just usually needs more salt to bring all of the flavors together. ive made scrambles before where this happened. adding a million things and it still tasting bland, just adding more salt did the trick.
